PRESIDENTS
MESSAGE
Dear Members,
It is a pleasure to address you as the newly-elected president
of our Association. In my brief tenure, I have already learned
that the job requirements would be easier if I cloned myself.
That way, I could better perform the responsibilities of
husband, father, contractor and SCECA president more
efficiently. As I told our Board Thursday night, I realized
quickly that I can’t please all the people all the time.
Honestly, I will try to represent member interests and concerns,
to the best of my ability, following some footsteps of my dear
friend Bill Gubing. I fully realize that success is not mine but
ours: Without the support of our Officers, Board, Committee
members and General members, I can achieve very little.
Board members encouraged me to develop some goals, or perhaps a
mission statement. The first concept that comes to mind is
communication. I hope to serve as a catalyst, to support and
foment communication among all the players in our industry. This
means I need to hear from you, and refer your concerns to those
who can address them.
Through your participation, it has become clear that our mission
must be Education. To that end, our Committees are busy pursuing
areas of concern and interest to you. I have recently attended
the LIPA “Roundtable Meeting,” with some of our Board members
who regularly represent us. Three of us also met with our
webmaster to review changes on our website,
www.sceca.com. Yes, it’s been
a busy summer.
In the spirit of communication, I hope you will contact us with
your concerns. We might pursue the answer in a setting other
than in the forum of a General Meeting, but rest assured we will
do our best to assist you. Please remember to take advantage of
the professionals serving your Association. Should you need the
services of a CPA, a business planner, an attorney, our
inspection agencies, power authority, insurer, website or an
entity I may have missed, we are here to help.
Please participate; attend our meetings, the annual picnic,
seminars, etc. As with any organization, you get out of it what
you put into it. Should you have an idea or suggestion, please
let us know. I look forward to seeing you at our first meeting
of the season.
Sincerely,
Joseph J. Mikulas
Pres., SCECA
