If you have any
employees, NY State requires that you cover them for both
workers compensation insurance and disability insurance. These
are two different insurances requiring two different insurance
policies. Workers compensation protects your employees for on
the job injury, while disability protects your employees if they
are sick or injured in a non-job related situation. The
penalties are very severe if you fail to cover your employees
for workers compensation. The fine is $250.00 for every ten days
that they were not covered. Please make sure that you have both
coverages and maintain them continuously while you have
employees. |
