EDITORIAL
We hope
all of our readers enjoyed a Happy, Healthy and Safe Holiday
Season. We wish all a very Happy New Year, on behalf of your
SCECA Board and Officers.
This “new
year” finds electrical contractors in the middle of change.
The old saying goes, “The only people who like change are
wet babies.” Nonetheless, we must keep up with if not get
ahead of changes. It helps if we see these changes coming,
and are prepared for them.
With
regard to politics and townships (east, west and center),
some have nearly blind-sided us. That’s why we have
encouraged our members to remain vigilant, and communicate
with SCECA officers and board members. (In this day and age,
use of the computer, cell phone, FAX, etc., should provide
real-time capability.) An update will be provided at the
January general meeting.
If you
haven’t heard, there is a great probability that NYS will
soon adopt the 2011 Code, and have it in force this year,
2012. For those that are still catching up, or wish to
refresh their knowledge and understanding, SCECA General
Meeting programs will review 2008 changes and updates the
next few months. (See page 3 for details.) Seminar Chair tom
Palk will arrange for 2011 seminars if/when the need arises.

In the
“feast or famine world” of editors, or at least your SCECA
editor, we have received a few contributions for this issue.
We are grateful to the contributors, and hope you read them:
The value of a customer, some requirements by both NYS and
some local regulations can be reviewed in this issue of The
Light. Our upcoming Code programs should also give members
good reason to brave the weather and attend our meetings.
