EDITORIAL
So this is
our last issue of 2003! Had any of us attempted to predict the
events that occurred this year, (and been correct), I guess we’d
be able to hang up our tool pouches. We’ve always attempted to
reflect the ideals of our trade, and our country. This year, the
focus was slanted more toward local issues that effected us as
electrical contractors. The reminders for Election Day,
Veterans’ Day and even Thanksgiving were on the light side. For
this reason, your editor has chosen to take this space to focus
first on the upcoming Holiday season: We wish you, your family,
friends and associates joy, health and prosperity.
Long Island
was not as hard-hit with economic downturn as much of our
country, therefore, according to the “experts,” the recovery
will not be as significant. Nevertheless, perhaps we can
consider sharing some of this “moderate prosperity” with others
in need.
Your
Association constantly tries to return “dividends” to its
members. Programs, seminars, picnics, even the dinner dance, all
are designed to serve our members. That’s why we’re inviting ALL
of you to our Annual Holiday Meeting. A hot buffet will be
served, with a generous side dish of short committee reports,
with merriment and camaraderie. Hope you can join us. Happy
Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and Peace to all, from your officers,
board and editor. Cheers!

The NYS
Association of Electrical Contractors, Inc. is an avid supporter
of SCECA, as well as an advertiser. They provide us with a
monthly publication, Legal Monitor. An article which we feel is
relevant, from their November 2003 issue, can be found on page
12 of The Light.
