SCECA's Annual Picnic - You're Invited! - click for details

September Issue

EDITORIAL

We welcome you back to the 2009-2010 SCECA “season” and wish you a “Happy New Year.” Those of you who were able to attend the SCECA Picnic at the L.I. Ducks game had a wonderful time. (Sorry your editor missed it! We were in a cooler climate at the time, touring Alaska.)

Members who attended and voted on the proposed changes of SCECA’s Constitution and Bylaws at the June General Meeting made their choices known. They will be followed by your newly-installed Officers and Board.

For many of us, the summer weather and its anticipated work were a disappointment. We’ve been reading that the economy is recovering, but need to see it in “black & white,” on some checks and signed work contracts. SCECA will continue to promote you, our members, and provide seminars to assist you and your business.

There are times when I think we have become insensitive if not immune to news events. We view these various pieces, and then click our minds to “safe mode.” That happens until something strikes close to home. Some rather sad news is detailed in our Good and Welfare section:

We mourn the passing of SCECA Historian, Past-president and founding member Donald McCarthy. At press time, we learned that Charles Schwing of Schwing Elec. Supply Corp. passed away. Abe Cohen, son of Jack Cohen passed away as well. We extend our sympathies to their family and friends and kindly ask for your prayers.

To our Jewish colleagues, we wish you an easy fast for Yom Kippur and A Happy New Year for Rosh Hashanah.

Remember to participate in the SCECA Forum at www.sceca.com Have a great summer; be safe.
