Welcome back to
the 2008-09 SCECA “season.” The kids are back to school, summer
is waning and work has finally picked up a bit. We have many
concerns related to our industry, and cordially invite you to
our first meeting on September 18.
Please be sure to read our President’s Message on page 5. There
are several other important pieces of information in this issue
of The Light. These topics will be discussed at our September
meeting as well: NYS has passed emergency regulations requiring
the grounding of Corrugated Stainless Steel (gas) Tubing.
Suggestions for changes to LIPA’s Redbook will be accepted at
the Sept. General Meeting. Nominations for a special election
for SCECA Board member(s) will open at the Sept. General
Meeting.

We extend our
sympathy to the Surdi family and invite you to read Grace’s
touching letter about Hugo.

By now, we realize
that the choices we make in the next elections can and will
directly influence our future. Please follow candidates at all
levels of government, and actively support those who best
represent our interests!

Please consider
bringing a non-perishable food donation to our General Meeting.
We are collecting for LI Cares.
Following the September General Meeting, we will post photos of
our SCECA Picnic on our website. We hope you access our site. If
you have requests or suggestions for the site, just let us know.
We will offer CPR Certification classes and separate OSHA
Certification this Fall, if there is sufficient enrollment.
