The food &
weather were great, and members who attended our annual picnic
had a wonderful time. We certainly gave “the summer that wasn’t”
a great send-off. We had members who brought toddlers and
babies, teens & spouses, and one member with parents (in their
80’s & 90’s), so we had a great mix! Photos of the event will be
found as an insert, in this edition of “The Light.”
Now however, it’s time to fast-forward to an important up-coming
event. Our forte has been and remains the education of our
members. As mentioned at General Meetings and in this
newsletter, this goal is somewhat elusive: We are dancing with
two National Electric Codes, 2002 & 2005, as well NYS Building
Codes. All of these affect estimating and performing electrical
work in our locale. Seminar Chair Tom Palk has been working
diligently to include these requirements in a manageable course.
With Instructor Joe Striano at the helm, we will offer a Seminar
at the J.W. Dye Center. However, due to the narrow scheduling
window, we need your response as soon as you read this! Please
call the SCECA Office at (631) 361-7474. The fee is $50 for
current members, and $200 for non-members. (The $50 fee will
help defray our expenses; SCECA dues is $150. Our Seminars are
strictly non-profit.) Please note: For those of our members who
need CEU’s, this will be your last opportunity in 2004!
Finally, program Chair Rob Szalay has a great mix of upcoming
programs that should appeal to our members’ varied needs and
interests. Check page 3 of each issue of “The Light” for current
information.
