NEWS OF NOTE

Following are items “hot off the press” from our October Board Meeting.  Further details will be provided at the General Meeting.

New Hyde Park is or will soon be requiring work permits to perform electrical work.

New Redbook will continue to indicate that plywood support for temporary services will be unacceptable.  In addition, flat connection of services must be reported immediately.  Sub metering will require LIPA sanctioning, and we hear that Emon Demon will not be accepted.  (We will request details and clarification from our LIPA reps at the October General Meeting.)

A recent Newsday article confirmed Jim Smith (NYBFU) alert:  The International Residential Code, adopted by 46 states and the District of Columbia passed a new code recommending (as of Jan. 1, 2011), auto fire sprinklers in new construction of single and two-family dwellings.
