EDITORIAL
This past month, some SCECA board
members, officers and general members visited Nassau Electric
League’s Expo. We were pleased to chat with some of our Nassau
colleagues and visit with their vendors. Your SCECA president
also visited with a licensing class at The Electrical Training
Center, extolling the advantages of SCECA membership. The point
is that we need everyone to help represent SCECA, and
bring in new members. As our membership grows, so will our
opportunities to network.
You may have heard (or recently noticed) some of our members
with SCECA signage on their trucks. These signs indicate that
electrical work must be performed by licensed electricians, and
invite “readers” to visit our website for referrals to our
members. (The more people who recognize the SCECA name, the
better for our members!) See article, page 9.
As many of you know, in November, we memorialize friend,
colleague, past SCECA Pres. (and my flyfishing buddy) Bill
Gubing. I think he’d be pleased that SCECA has continued to grow
and pursue new in-roads for its membership. I’m also quite sure
he’d be proud that the Vendors’ Night Trade Show he pioneered
has continued to prosper. I wish to acknowledge the example Bill
set as president: His priority in making decisions was always to
represent our members, rather than his own interests.
That said, I hope our general members rise to the challenge:
Consider a position on our Board of Directors, participate
actively in your association, enlist new members, volunteer to
place our signs on your truck. Be proud and continue to build
SCECA. See you at the next General Meeting.
