PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:
Dear Members,
I hadn’t planned on a
message this month, but often the need is dictated by other
events. These “events” began when I represented our Association
on several occasions as SCECA president, then began this issue
of the newsletter as editor. (Changing hats tends to cover my
ever-growing bald spot.)
Prior to a doctor’s
appointment, I joined fellow SCECA reps as well as those from
Five Boro and Nassau Electric Leagues and NECA, at the LIPA
Roundtable Meeting. I am happy to report continuing progress
with two-way communications, in which your concerns and
theirs are addressed, and agreeable resolutions sought. Since I
departed prior to completion of the meeting, you are welcome to
speak with Michael Krug, Michael Towers, Lee Eysman or Tom Palk,
should you have any concerns.
I spoke at the Local 25
Trade Show Luncheon, providing attendees with an overview of our
Association’s history, its accomplishments and goals. Two days
later, I visited with our Nassau colleagues at their Trade
Show. (It was great to see friends and vendors without
my trusty camera.)
As you might expect, after
completing my regularly scheduled work and responding to service
calls, the November Board Meeting was here with the blink of an
eye. That was the next pleasant surprise: As predicted, Tom
Palk and his committee (and employees) have pulled together a
nearly sold out Code Seminar. At this writing, they may need to
turn people away! Check out page seven of this newsletter for
the “first wave” of new members to be sworn in. We hope they
will become active members, and that those of you attending the
November General Meeting will give Tom a well-deserved pat on
the back.
I’ve also found that, try as
I might to acknowledge those special folks, be they officers,
board, general or associate SCECA members, or advisors, it is
impossible to recognize and thank everyone individually. For
this reason, I thank you here.
On behalf of SCECA, we wish
you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Joseph J. Mikulas
