In the month
of November, we proudly remember our country’s veterans. We also
remember our past president, friend and veteran, Bill Gubing. I
imagine he’s “looking down” with a smile, as I take on the
responsibilities of SCECA pres., while still managing to put a
few hours together to throw a flyline or play some hockey.
I expect he’d be equally as happy to see some “new blood”
stepping up to the challenge of being a SCECA Board member. We
have officially appointed Remo Lucent Jr. and Kevin MacLeod to
fill two openings. These gentlemen have already indicated a
willingness to help on committees and follow up on new projects.
This spirit will provide our organization with new ideas, and
therefore, continued growth.
Speaking of ideas, should you have any suggestions or requests,
please speak with an officer or board member. We wish to
continue to address your needs and represent your concerns in
our dialogues with the appropriate office(s) with jurisdiction.
More members are including our logo in their advertising,
promoting their affiliation with SCECA. Customers in turn
realize that SCECA members are professionals, who keep up with
their trade and the codes which govern it. Quality work
performed to or above code standards reflects our mission of
Progress, Safety, Integrity and Reliability. It’s also our best
answer to “outsourcing.” A “moonlighter” cannot duplicate the
quality of your work, nor can he produce the required master
license. To paraphrase the old quote, Long after the sweetness
of a great price is forgotten, the bitterness of a poorly done
job remains.
