EDITORIAL
When you’re on the “other side” of
the podium, facing an audience, you sometimes wonder if they
“hear you.” Well apparently, many of our members did. SCECA’s
first seminar on the 2008 National Electric Code has been sold
out. This is a tribute to the seminar committee, led by Tom Palk
and his own secretary, Irene. To the following who provided
assistance above and beyond the call, we extend our
appreciation: SCECA Recording Secretary, Barbara George, Board
member Lester Gochman, Second Vice Pres. Kevin MacLeod and Pres.
Jack Morrell. Moreover, it is a tribute to our new and present
members for investing the commitment of time and funds to attend
the course. (However, your Editor will not be present. The bride
at the wedding we’re attending in Massachusetts would not change
the date!)

By the time you receive this
newsletter, the “smoke-filled rooms” of candidates running for
office will have cleared. Whether your favorite candidate will
be in office is now beyond your control. However, whether
they’ve won or lost, it is incumbent of you to let your elected
representatives know where you stand and why. Be the “squeaky
wheel” and be heard. These folks spend (taxpayer) money sending
surveys asking for your opinion. Save them the postage and let
them know, via telephone, e-mail and good old snail mail.

We hope you’ll try to attend this
SCECA General Meeting. Our attorney will be discussing mechanics
liens as well as related topics.

We thank Inspector Jerry Flaherty
of Electrical Inspection Service, Inc. for his new Code article;
we suggest you share it with colleagues and your help!
