For SCECA and
college basketball, March Madness has begun. I can’t give you
college picks, but here are SCECA’s: Our Vendors’ Night Trade
Show is right around the corner, April 26 at the Huntington
Hilton. Nominations for Officers and Board members will soon be
opened, and a full publication of amended Constitution & By-laws
is in the works. We’ll be sponsoring a seminar on Low
voltage/Cat 5 cabling on March 24. (Fliers for Trade Show and
Seminar registration will be inserted in this issue of “The
Light.”) For long-range planners, LIPA/National Grid will
present their Expo on May 19. SCECA is planning a Bowling Outing
for May 22; a flier can be found in this newsletter. Finally,
for those of you who really plan ahead, and are eagerly awaiting
“the boys of summer,” SCECA will again sponsor a picnic at a
Ducks Game on Sunday, July 18, at 5:00 pm. More details will
follow.

I recently met a
residential building contractor at the gym one morning.
Unfortunately neither of us were busy enough to begin the day in
a work vehicle. As we spoke, I lamented the EPA requirement for
abatement of lead paint. Surprisingly, he was not at all
dismayed. Quite to the contrary, he was most interested. His
take was that if he could become certified, he could create a
new avenue for work. It’s interesting how one might view this as
a problem, and another as a solution. That’s the ingenuity we
need. We hope you take advantage of fellow members’ specialties
to enhance your own scope of business. As Johnny Sax Marketing
implied, a marketing program should not cost but pay, in the
form of new and expanded work.
See you at the March Meeting!
