We can resist
change, but ultimately, if we don’t bend, we’ll probably break.
A quote we’ve seen before says that only wet babies like a
(diaper) change. Well change is here: NY State may finally adopt
the most current National Electric Code. As contractors, we may
be required to deal with multiple bureaucracies to legally
practice our trade. In short, we must remain aware of change and
become involved in the process. (We know a few guys who ended up
with plenty of now-obsolete parts for having objected to
change.)
Also coming soon will be the “changing of the guard.” SCECA
elections will take place at our May General Meeting. Now more
than ever, we need officers and board members who will keep our
members current and represent them, so these “changes” can be
addressed. It’s better to be involved when a change is being
developed rather than attempting to catch up after the fact.
For this reason, we urge our voting (contractor) members to
consider their choices carefully. We need proactive leadership.
Starting with our president, we must be willing to expend the
time and energy necessary to address issues of change, and
represent the best interests of our membership.

Proposed
revisions to our Constitution & By-laws can be found in this
issue. Any General (Contractor) member in good standing can
offer additional proposal(s), all to be voted on at this, our
March General Meeting.
