$25,000 RAFFLE NEWS *Please Read:

Kevin MacLeod 258-7675

We started SCECA’s $25,000 Raffle in March, 2005.  At that time, the Board of Directors voted for the option to review the prize fund in March, 2006, and decide whether to continue the raffle, based on total tickets sold. To date, we have sold about 30 tickets for our $25,000 raffle. We need to sell another 308 by March 2006 in order to break even and support over $30,000 in prizes to be drawn.

It is likely that unless sales pick up, that the Board of Directors will vote to discontinue the $25,000 Raffle. If this happens, as per the rules specified on the back of each ticket, those that purchased tickets will get a full refund by mail. If you have any questions, you can contact SCECA at 631- 361-7474.

As of the March Board Meeting, a majority of the Board chose to discontinue the raffle.  Refunds will be made to those loyal folks who chose to support this event.

TAX TIPS FOR ELECTRICIANS

Stuart A. Sinclair, CPA
(516) 935-2086

Did you know that you are required to record and save for six years the hours that your employees work each week, and their hourly rate of pay?  Have them initial a paper agreeing to the pay rate and hours worked.  You generally must pay time and a half for hours worked over 40 per week, though there are some exceptions.  You should also furnish your employees with a pay stub each pay period, showing their gross pay and the various taxes that were withheld.  If you don’t do these things, you may be vulnerable to an audit and fines from the N.Y.S. Dept. of Labor’s Division of Labor Standards.

As always, we recommend that any questions regarding accounting and taxes be directed to Stuart.
