EDITORIAL
All too often,
electrical contractors experience frustration with “The System,”
and can do little or nothing to effect change, or receive the
answers they need to satisfy the “areas with local
jurisdiction.” Our members will have an opportunity to hear from
folks who make or enforce the rules by which we must abide.
Ideally, this “Roundtable Forum” will be the beginning of
meaningful dialogue. We’ll find out some answers, ask our
questions, and define whom we must contact for clarification of
various Code requirements. SCECA Board and Officers do not
presume that the forum will resolve all of the “frustration,”
but serve as a conduit, so we can properly bid and perform a
job, and resolve issues before they cause problems
needing resolution.
Our Codes Forum on March 23 will be held in conjunction with
Suffolk County’s Office of Consumer Affairs. Invitations have
gone out to LIPA, Inspection Agencies, Fire Marshals from the
various Townships and Building Department representatives, and
of course, our members and representatives of the electrical
industry on Long Island. Seating is limited, but we’ll do our
best to accommodate those wishing to attend. Please be
sure to call the SCECA office at (631) 361-7474 to reserve your
seat. Your reservation will be confirmed.

To make this and
other events a success, we need your participation. Please mark
your calendars for our Trade Show on Thursday, April 14,
at Sports Plus in Lake Grove.
There are flyers on both events in this issue.
