SCECA's Annual Picnic - You're Invited! - click for details

Dear Members,

As with so many events and occasions in my life, had someone predicted my position as SCECA’s President twenty-eight years ago, I wouldn’t have believed it.  Nor can I believe how quickly my first year in office has passed.  Having walked in these shoes for a year gives me new-found appreciation for those who have preceded me.  The tasks required give new meaning to the term multi-tasking.  Most of all, it makes me appreciate and understand the importance of fellow Board and Officers, and those who chair the various committees.

To borrow a term from LIPA, these people are my “trade allies” in your Association.  Despite the fact that the President wears many hats, he cannot carry the ball alone.  He must pick it up when dropped, stop the buck, own the ultimate responsibility, but only with the help, support and dedication of others can a job be performed successfully.

We’ve accomplished many “jobs” this year:

Social events, such as the picnic and holiday party, even the “chow and chat” at the General Meetings help support comradery among members.  We hope the Splish Splash outing will add to the inclusion of your family’s endorsement of SCECA.

The Roundtable Forum, held in conjunction with the County, which included Department of State chiefs, building department leaders, fire marshals, inspection agencies and professionals of our industry, was a huge success.

We were literally moving tables and chairs at the Dye Center, to accommodate attendees for our Codes Seminar.

General Meeting attendance, (and SCECA membership), have increased; our programs are timely and pertinent; members’ questions are apropos, and professionals are there to provide answers or research them.

The Trade Show was a huge success, attracting many participants and attendees.

More of “J.Q. public” is aware of SCECA, through our public relations campaign.

Our website continues to be improved and viable, so much so, that we’ve received compliments from electrical associations as far away as Buffalo.

This year will be a tough act to follow, but together, we’ll try to make 2005-06 even better.  Thank you for your support and endorsement.

Very truly yours,
Joseph J. Mikulas
Pres., SCECA
