EDITORIAL
By the time
you read this editorial, the “changing of the guard” will have
taken place. As Past-Pres. Tom Thomas has indicated, ‘It’s
amazing how quickly time has passed.’ I’ll add to that: It’s
amazing the strides our Association has made, under Tom’s
“watch.” In his own unique style of leadership, he has “guided
the ship through uncharted territory.” I’m pleased to have him
as a trusted advisor, as I “take the helm.”

Once again,
we extend congratulations and gratitude to our Installation
Dinner honoree, Mr. Hugo Surdi. He is our only surviving
original member of the Suffolk Electric League, having joined
October 20, 1948. (Information, courtesy of Don McCarthy.)

We hope you
can join us at our “last General meeting of this season.”
SCECA’s own Michael Towers will conclude his presentation on the
multitude of Codes affecting our work.

The VICA
contest winners will be presented with their awards, and this
might be a good time to check out the “best of class,” if you
need some help. Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to thank
Tom Thomas for his tireless work as SCECA President.

As we head
toward summer, it has become my tradition to implore our members
to be safe at work and play. We’ll try to extend your summer
pleasure with the Annual Picnic, to be held Sunday, September
19, at Belmont Lake State Park. (Details may be found in this
issue of The Light.)
