Dear Members,
On behalf of our Board and Officers, I wish you a Happy, Healthy
and Prosperous New Year.
There is a famous quote from Oscar Wilde about Life imitating
art vs. art imitating Life. In loosely applying the quote, I
sometimes view the similarities between our business and home
lives. Just when a job is going well, we hit a glitch and Murphy
with his “law” pays a visit. May your visits from Mr. Murphy be
few on the job, and fewer with your family.
There are several projects we will be working on this new year.
Jack Morrell, SCECA’s 2nd Vice Pres., is organizing a CPR
certification course. Board member and Program Chair Rob Szalay
is looking in to arranging another popular Hilti certification
class. Board member Steve Nerwinski is in the early stages of
preparing for our Vendors Night Trade Show. Board member Lester
Gochman and 1st Vice Pres. John McGinn will be assisting Board
member and Chairman Kevin MacLeod in organizing the best and
biggest picnic. In addition, Lester and John as well as Jack
Morrell will help judge the Skills USA electrical competition.
Secretary Tom Palk will most likely be organizing another
seminar this year. Of course we need your attendance to make any
of these projects successful events.
Despite the fact that I have not mentioned every Board member
and Officer in the paragraph above, they all pitch in to make
the Association work for you. Without the sound fiscal
management of long-time SCECA Treasurer Mike Krug, we would not
be able to offer the projects mentioned above. Rod Jara’s Safety
Committee should always be job one. I am grateful to the entire
team of Board and Officers for their support and willingness to
“go the extra mile” for SCECA and its members. I can only hope
that our membership steps up to continue to advance and promote
our Association and its cause.
Please remember that we must remain vigilant for legislation in
our townships as well as the County or State, as they affect our
work as electrical contractors. Should you have or need
information, contact Kevin MacLeod.
Sincerely,
Joseph J. Mikulas
President
