January Issue

A Proposal to Amend the Constitution and By-Laws of The
Suffolk County Electrical Contractors Association, Inc. in part thereof:

CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE VI. OFFICERS

Section 2.
All Officers shall be Active Members and shall be elected at the Annual Meeting to serve for (1) year or until their [successors are elected and installed.] elected successors are installed.

Reason: This needed to be re-worded because it invalidates the term limits specified in Article VII (Management) Section 6.

ARTICLE VII. MANAGEMENT

[Section 6.
Except for the Office of Treasurer, Secretary, and Business Manager, no director or officer may serve more than two consecutive terms.]

Section [7.] 6.
The Business Manager shall be elected to a two year term and will serve as a non voting member of the Board of Directors.

Delete Section 6.

Section 7 becomes new section 6.

Reason:
Remove term limits from the Constitution.

Explanation –
old part [brackets] - to be replaced with the new part underscored.

SAFETY COMMITTEE NEWS:   :   :

SCECA was planning to host a 10-hour O.S.H.A. Certificate Class on January 28.  Due to insufficient registration, the class  has been cancelled.  Should members wish to register for a future date, we will reschedule the class. Special thanks to  Rod Jara and Jack Morrell for their efforts.

As our industry moves forward, this and other certifications may well become requirements to obtain business (liability) insurance, or perhaps, obtain a discount.
