The only thing
certain about life is life’s uncertainty! All creatures, great
and small, are effected by the whims of Mother Nature and her
creatures. These philosophical words may introduce a job gone
ugly with a snowstorm, or, in our case, some changes due to
circumstances beyond our control.
Due to an unexpected conflict with the Light Show at the Javitts
Center, SCECA’s Light Show, which was to have been featured at
Vendors’ Night, has been upstaged by the “Big Apple.” Although I
seriously question how many Long Islanders will take in the
show, vendors and manufacturers are committed to the City’s
venue. Nevertheless, our show will go on. With the continued
support of our manufacturers’ representatives, suppliers and
allied trade organizations, and your attendance, we’ll have
another successful event.

We do expect to
conduct our Codes Forum on March 23, with Suffolk County’s
Office of Consumer Affairs. Invitations will be going out to
LIPA, Inspection Agencies, Fire Marshals from the various
Townships and Building Department representatives, and of
course, our members and representatives of the electrical
industry on Long Island. Seating is limited, but we’ll do our
best to accommodate those wishing to attend.

Finally, those
who attended the January General Meeting were asked if they
thought the price of gas or truck maintenance, tools, insurance,
supplies, etc. were going down. The point: A Seminar on business
practices, from figuring overhead to legal and investment
aspects would benefit our newer members and those who have been
at “The Trade” for years. More details will follow.
Remember to factor Mother Nature into your plans, and beware the
Big Apple!
