EDITORIAL
Every writer is in
some way influenced by his experiential background, and
therefore writes with a degree of bias. This bias is more
prevalent in an editorial opinion, but some slant is even
present in news stories, documentaries and the like. I have
written many editorials in The Light over nearly three decades.
Some have implored our readers to become active SCECA members,
to become involved in the political process that influences
their careers, their families, their lives on L.I., in N.Y. or
as U.S. citizens. This editorial simply suggests that we take
some time to appreciate and acknowledge those people who are
most important in our lives, and to try to help some who are
less fortunate.

Last month, I
noted (with thanks) those who help defray the costs of
publishing this newsletter. (Usually I remember the passing of
Bill Gubing, past SCECA Pres., Vendors’ Night founder, colleague
and fly-fishing buddy.) A benevolent act of his is still fresh
in my mind. Without fanfare, Bill became his church’s
electrician. If all of us could perform a similar kind act, we
will have come a long way in remembering what this holiday
season is really about.

Yes dear readers,
I too have a bias, and I hope it’s contagious.
From your SCECA
Officers and Board, may you and your loved ones have a Peaceful,
Joyous and Happy Holiday
