SCECA's Annual Picnic - You're Invited! - click for details

December Issue

EDITORIAL

As the holidays rapidly approach, we are reminded of the spirit of giving. As a SCECA member for nearly 30 years, I have witnessed this spirit from many members and associates. It was quite prevalent as we joined with LIPA and others to help the Suffolk County Girl Scouts at Camp Edey. Using materials donated by Schwing Electric Supply we installed several 100-amp services to power the scouts’ Holiday Light Show. It is a wonderful display, and the fee, $12 per carload, goes to a very worthy cause. (You might find a $2 coupon online, or in a local paper.) As you drive through the display, following the music at FM 89.3, you’ll hear SCECA mentioned among the main sponsors of the show. We hope you’ll enjoy and share a sense of pride in your Association.

Our upcoming General meeting will feature an abbreviated agenda, with a buffet and soft drinks, so we can celebrate with our colleagues. All current members are welcome to attend.

In the November issue of The Light, I did not make specific mention of past-Pres. Bill Gubing. However, this time of year brings to mind his role as Santa Claus. Bill was missing the belly, but donned the outfit when SCECA met at the Bavarian Inn for our annual Holiday Party. He was so convincing that folks from other parties insisted on having photos taken with Santa Bill.

We can’t guarantee that a jolly elf will visit, but we’ll have plenty of good food, good friends and good cheer. We hope you’ll join us.

We wish you Happy and Healthy Holidays from SCECA Board and Officers. Drive safely!
