Each of you probably sees some “repetitive errors” in your travels.  We wish to publish these, with or without names.  It is our hope that some of these errors/violations can be avoided.  Code may be referenced if you wish.  This forum can serve both the contractor and the inspector, making our respective jobs a bit easier.  Thank you!

TOP 5 LIPA SERVICE VIOLATIONS : : :

1)   Meter pan clearances – Self Contained & Trans S: Clearance to the sides and in front.

2)   Grounding – missing ground rod or no grounding connected to the water pipe.

3)   Missing POA/Eyebolt.

4)   Conflict between Electric & Gas Meters (mainly underground services).

5)   Meter Pan Height – Self Contained (up to 300A: 3 to 6 feet to top of glass) and Trans S (400 – 800Amps: 4 to 6 feet to top of glass)
